厌世 | Becoming Disenchanted
真正的修行人应一心向佛,厌弃世法。否则,要想成功简直是白日做梦。
- T5 H' R! d: q! u6 CGenuine spiritual seekers should turn their mind wholeheartedly to the Dharma and renounce
* v* q7 O* s, v: Osecular affairs. Otherwise, wishing to be successful in spiritual practice is just daydreaming.
& @) j2 x, Q. K2 S8 j7 @, K9 e无著菩萨长期在寂地闭关,很多人想拜见或向他求教,总是吃闭门羹。他在关房门外写着# h1 z* j, v& o. M
:“胜法以及今生计,二者无法同时成,若能共成则必定,自我欺骗无怀疑。与我会晤无
: L) v$ z+ x; @+ m' j/ y: a他言,期望各自勤修善。”
4 A4 @& R: n, `& t, Z: L5 |6 YBodhisattva Thogme Zangpo maintained his long-term retreat in an isolated hermitage; many
$ E% a& G) |/ W9 Z0 gvisitors seeking his audience or teachings found themselves on the wrong side of the door. He
  R: v  ~" G: W2 f6 J8 Mposted a note outside his retreat hut that read: “Between the sublime path and the secular
4 d5 [0 K' b  H  Tworld, there is no way to accommodate both; should one claim it is doable, it is for certain a self-
2 u' R3 E, m* i( Y  Xdeception. Even if we meet face to face, there are no other words I could impart to you. May we
8 S6 K" a7 l8 ~2 p# Iall strive diligently to practice the Dharma!”/ I5 h9 I$ P+ u/ ^* [8 Q
萨迦班智达也说:“一个人一边成办即生兴盛事业,一边求永久安乐,是愚痴卤莽的行为. r' Y; O1 e6 h, g
。我们应当舍弃世间法。” 《发起菩萨殊胜志乐经》中也云:“弥勒,我不说言,爱言说' {6 j2 q/ Z, V/ \. D; s
者为心一住,好营世务于法无损。”# H" L# \; i6 q
Sakya Pandita says: “If one strives for success and prosperity of this life and at the same time
( Z* \5 F6 `. Y+ c, e5 Kwishes to attain the ultimate happiness, one is foolish and reckless. We should abandon secular! ~2 h+ y( _% G" R
affairs.” In The Sutra of Arousing the Supreme Motivation of the Bodhisattvas it says: “Maitreya, I
) f2 e9 u, X$ _  C6 `: ]will never agree that vociferous people can effectively focus their minds, nor do I approve of the
8 l4 i; G* m+ z7 k+ D3 k# Z) j7 vsaying that no harm is done to the Doctrines by getting involved in secular matters.”
$ D- k, D' Y' T1 |* u3 ]3 }8 @7 A《修行入门》中也描述过宗喀巴大师亲见文殊菩萨,文殊菩萨赠送的一段至理名言:“如
7 {9 B: ^' b, ]7 r& @* E3 ?2 \果开初没有对轮回产生出离的厌恶心,纵然孜孜不倦地闻思修行,也完全不会超越轮回及
. Z4 Z" j, D4 a2 ~恶趣的因。应当将生圆次第等高深的法暂时束之高阁,精勤修持出离心,直至生起出离心3 x1 g4 Y5 O. d
为止。”) a: D, l' T( \5 d9 r9 w
The Gateway to Practice describes how Master Tsongkhapa once had a vision of Bodhisattva
! d! y( D% b) t# s; B. U' B" YManjusri, who imparted to him a golden instruction: “Unless one has developed an utter disgust
* a. ^/ |( U+ \- X' Gtoward samsara in the first place, all his efforts in studying, reflection, and meditation will not$ M# l: e! F/ o
free him from samsara and the lower realms. Therefore, one should put away the profound$ O* U2 R$ Y, Q) q8 i) z6 [
practices, such as those on generation and completion phases, on high shelves for the moment.
& I  X6 `, _3 X7 M0 @3 N2 QInstead, work intensely on cultivating disenchantment until it has arisen fully in the mind.”; r+ D; C4 b( g7 ?. r5 }
有的人会想,不是说:“佛法在世间,不离世间觉,离世觅菩提,恰如求兔角”吗?
1 h9 ]& U  c, a8 l! kSome may wonder: Isn’t there a famous saying like the following:
+ c# R: i( e. I3 u% g8 }3 wThe Kingdom of Buddha is in this world, within which enlightenment is to be sought.
( j$ w- M5 k& G: f6 r- DTo seek enlightenment beyond this world is as absurd as to search for a rabbit’s horn.  J5 R% j0 R: p
佛法和世间法应该是不矛盾的啊?$ U8 y2 l2 j6 J/ U0 i; I, B
Buddhists’ practice shouldn’t be in conflict with worldly activities, should it?$ b, g- Z6 G$ Q
其实,这种说法有两层密意,一是为了调柔刚入佛门的世间众生,迎合他们不愿抛弃世间
! M* S' h2 I$ I1 i( W之念的一种权巧说法;二是针对已证悟的成就者的无二境界或利众事业而言。
6 x: ]% ^% K) p7 yIn fact, this saying has two levels of meaning. On one level, it is an expedient way to guide those
- b0 |; j) s0 Q5 X! p- D# b9 ynew to Buddhism, to suit their unwillingness to let go of this world. On the other level, it speaks
- K) t% Y& h$ K) Ddirectly of the non-dual minds or the activities of realized sages.
0 K" P* d; Y5 a8 D* A# _) l作为凡夫,只能脚踏实地地舍弃愦闹,如经所说:“当舍于懈怠,远离诸愦闹,寂静常知" a. l/ G5 @. s9 _" i
足,是人当解脱。”. L5 P8 M1 V# z6 l& K
As ordinary beings, we should keep our feet firmly on the ground and stay away from% E" z2 Q, K- n" \  J. n
distractions. The scripture says: “Whoever overcomes indolence, keeps away from distractions7 x( h3 ~( @: t% ^) `
and always feels contented in solitude will attain liberation.”
" t0 n4 [1 n" M: m3 p) s7 e浮名浮利过于酒,醉得人心死不醒。不要中了酒神狄俄尼索斯的诡计,迷醉于世间名利,
2 c9 ]2 f, Z( d5 Y5 c好好把握住自己吧!( P& @2 G! }. c
Illusory fame and flimsy prosperity are as seductive as wine but even more potent. They make" D2 m5 o! x: a  k. U
the mind dead drunk, becoming incapable of awakening. Do not be tricked by the wine god
, Z+ l9 Z4 }' l# Y  S2 xDionysus and intoxicated with worldly renown and wealth. Hold onto your own principles!2 v; k3 c0 Z) R4 X8 H3 c
