6 W4 _7 h5 E" Z3 ]- J5 y) B
作为一个修行人,如果在家修持,极易为贪嗔痴的外境所转。即使自己想安住,也会因亲" O( u3 Z8 y5 m1 H' ^
9 D8 m- L* [2 p( V1 y0 i: ~2 `
朋的打搅而生烦恼。所以,离家修行是上上之举。% F1 _- k( k w% @; F$ K- U& I
3 Y8 c" F. W% L, i1 R7 j. I
If a spiritual seeker tries to do his practices at home, he is likely to be influenced by situations of4 y+ n& L1 G% K, i
) B& G% |- i3 w$ {- e# C9 [craving, hatred, and delusion. Even if he has every intention of concentrating on his studies,
+ z! ^' n9 [3 l! w# ]$ {% G3 O3 b Q
$ G; G& Q( \! Z% [friends and relatives easily stir up his emotion. Hence, the smartest thing to do is to stay away
# I/ X, o" Z4 U5 W7 u% M
0 f# ^0 H X& g8 y8 ~from home to practice., Z. G5 ~0 n/ @! h
+ x" r' v/ w5 k佛经云:“何处生烦恼,须臾不得住。”2 N0 W: ^ h+ Z) z" O" W

The scripture says: “A place that incites afflictive emotions is a place not to stay even for an' Q) e7 K2 N/ X9 d9 H2 C3 S
" P0 ^' c9 d- z# P1 ~* F7 B( I3 ?
instant.”

博朵瓦也说:“远离故乡与亲友,如理作意弃散乱,此等之人趋解脱。”" Z( R) l0 ]/ b2 Z7 T' u9 E O1 ^3 X* J
7 q, ?. L! t9 c
Geshe Potowa also says: “Leave behind your hometown, relatives, and friends. Give up
& Y5 @# g8 F# B* g8 l; f
$ U8 A3 V& _" z5 S& |, Ydistractions and steer your mind according to the teachings. By doing so, you will attain
& r8 M0 e6 ?+ k* C$ B* t" a7 v
! a* q& K0 J- P0 B+ U8 j8 eliberation.”

臧巴加惹的修行语录中也有这样一段话:“烦恼因外境而生,不舍弃故乡真是愚痴;修行
; }6 Z. ~3 G0 Z. j& p# @+ H! k$ Q" \ i% |) B8 R
需对治烦恼,不依对治者真是愚痴;听闻佛经依因缘而得,不筹备因缘真是愚痴。若远离) V7 j) j3 o9 _$ C
) H& D3 a9 E- a# m2 y& h s
故土,即使谣言四起,也不后悔;心依止上师,即使饥饿而死,也不后悔;若通达心性,+ D) i7 a, d+ c% Y9 H7 l0 ]. \
& t& W( r6 A3 p6 g即使短暂依师,也不后悔。若远离家乡,即有了对治烦恼的好缘起;不贪图乐果,即已产
' o# H; L" u9 n6 d0 Q' v8 K
4 w& H4 F3 ^' k }( O; \生正信的好缘起;舍弃世间法,是发布施的好缘起。不舍弃故乡,贪嗔是不会间断的。因

此,首先离家极重要。世间琐事不能舍弃,就无时修持;世间财物不能放下,就不能斩断
( \# \' j3 }7 X3 E" }0 W0 _% v7 b+ k: o* D
亲友的牵连。”, U' u _( C- f8 S8 Y: b
|% S; @; ^! X; @The following quote is found in Tsangpa Gyare’s teachings on practice: “External circumstances: y) f1 P P0 a4 f/ H1 @* b/ l' L
( v% |, Y! w' w% qtrigger afflictive emotions, clinging to one’s homeland is indeed foolish. Spiritual practice is
- C: R* {5 I% E- a* x/ l6 n* {2 _7 Q" O- H$ W; c9 k+ n$ `7 S
meant to subdue disturbing emotions, knowing not to apply antidotes is indeed foolish. The

opportunity to hear the Dharma results from causes and conditions; not knowing to create: } b6 {+ ~2 M1 i
& o+ P1 w9 n+ M' h# g5 E5 I7 u
favorable causes and conditions is indeed foolish. Having left the homeland far behind for) R2 V6 o( k1 \1 B) Y6 d
- K0 C3 W) J9 B1 q; c( s
practice, you have no regret whatsoever even if rumors abound. Having resolved to follow a
: o8 ~1 A o8 L6 M" U' I. I) w3 N$ Y3 Q9 r+ U, R1 _
spiritual teacher, you have no regret even if you die from starvation. Having realized the nature
A) ~/ [' A6 |; t5 x% v/ J6 l [) A) I/ e1 y/ \ u4 ~, {
of the mind, you have no regret even if your time with the teacher was brief. To leave the

u/ L i/ k. A$ c$ Bhomeland is a favorable condition for overcoming afflictions. To give up the craving for pleasure
% M+ o6 u ~. K( y2 J0 B N
x( o6 V9 ]0 Sis a favorable condition for establishing right views. To banish worldly affairs is a favorable# N+ ?7 N; i K& u4 v! p) @
3 F9 o A5 N5 }; }- p p
condition for making offerings. So long as you are attached to your homeland, you cannot rid
* ^+ p+ U3 _8 W+ E
. W4 n; E2 o2 B( B: }3 F. `yourself of greed and avarice. Henceforth, the first crucial step is to bid farewell to your home. If( |# Z) m6 Q& A2 W& \2 i6 S! v ?
* G) \/ e2 g' u: dyou cannot give up worldly engagements, you will never have the time to practice. If you cannot
: F& Y) `: A, A2 Y' O4 A( o9 @' e! R( F: G5 K- O/ h! ~
relinquish your worldly possessions, you will never sever entanglements with friends and

看来,故土家园的过患确实无穷。大智者应难舍能舍,难行能行。( R; q; Z6 c5 M7 F# U2 c
) B3 D$ F; ]" \! u, ^# [$ Y
In all, it seems the ills of staying in one’s homeland are indeed endless. A truly wise person% c; P) v& K& y8 \( u* K% i I
H; _) C* r# Z I. Z/ W, z8 [& }should let go of what is difficult to give up and carry out what is difficult to do.: Y3 H* P! {* \7 |" h0 R6 i: S9 n; e! I$ J

远离家乡和财务的纠缠,依止静处时,才能深切感受到诸大德教言的胜妙之处。

Only when we have settled in a secluded place, free from tangles of money and homeland, shall
' y6 k& T! c6 K7 G; i
+ ~% V' f, `: F( i. mwe come to appreciate deeply the sublime meaning of the masters’ teachings.- @& @$ i- T+ J; f& C. J1 J5 L& z* Y
