看到这个题目,也许有些人会感到不解。作为一名佛教徒,怎么忽然间对外道感起兴趣来- l7 C% x5 p1 C5 }: L+ `& X0 e
了呢?但今天我要赞美的这位修女,决不能用单纯的宗教来界定她的信仰。在我的心目中
8 o& F( V. P2 U$ J) z# P9 T,她就是活生生的佛菩萨。她,就是驰名全球的修女——特蕾萨。. R% v$ ^0 o2 y- k
Upon seeing this title, some of you may wonder: As a Buddhist, why am I suddenly interested in! C) ~3 r& Y0 k
affairs of non-Buddhists? But the object of my admiration and respect today, a Catholic nun, is
0 H, p6 p1 _- _% ~beyond the simple definition of religious faith. In my heart, she is the living Buddha or a
6 Q4 |/ D2 W. _& G; z+ r# wBodhisattva. This person, incidentally, is none other than the renowned missionary nun—Mother
8 Q) G3 ~; x6 n- }# r& cTeresa.

an easy and comfortable European lifestyle in a monastery complete with beautiful gardens./ O  V, e9 P$ K8 K

against the strong opposition of people around her, she ventured into the slum all alone. Bravely,
" \7 W& r! `* s; L+ g1 C7 K* ishe carried on her back the pains and sorrows of beings in the world; with her frail shoulders, she
$ @- p* e* q. r; n5 k8 Jassumed the heavy burden of rescuing the destitute from the slums." A; ^) b% Z* R# Z5 V3 I9 q' Z

and severely injured. When he could await nothing but indifference, Mother Teresa appeared& \6 z) p, e) m, d: a7 L
and helped him up, escorting him to the “House of the Pure Heart” she had established. A tramp
! x  m7 e1 X8 b8 @' ?1 Icurved up on the roadside, his body covered with oozing sores and maggots. When he was; W7 L5 e$ M1 o
receiving nothing but spiteful looks and revulsion from passersby, Mother Teresa came and/ T# {5 P" L& |) o
bound up his wounds tenderly; she embraced his heart of total despair and gave it warmth…. Her( B! Z" d" ]; x( y3 K6 `7 u
footprints covered more than half of the earth—Calcutta, Yemen, London, Melbourne, New York,
' y8 v9 m  F1 k: r- h5 c  {. ~# ceven China. She founded more than a hundred charity agencies to serve the lowly poor. She took
7 L( J" Q& A+ H3 B6 tin 61,273 abandoned babies in a period of merely six years.; G* u/ _. Y" S4 E2 u$ v

spirit and contributed the $7,100 that would otherwise have been spent on the banquet to the) m- e7 ]8 G, x/ x% `# E6 z) C  p8 v0 S

Pope, at an auction and used the money to open a leprosy hospital.

% u3 O8 W9 G3 E# g6 z' J& v  m" RLet us follow Mother Teresa’s example. With a humble and willing spirit, we will give up the6 j" H/ s' F  h7 c# g
ambition of doing earthshaking undertakings, but start serving mankind bit by bit.; G, g: n  Y8 ?, s2 E; j
