' o4 H8 e0 l3 B$ u作为一个修行人,如果在家修持,极易为贪嗔痴的外境所转。即使自己想安住,也会因亲
& s5 X' B$ c% {8 ~3 G- s- Q8 L0 \; c6 T- {6 E: @/ \3 @
朋的打搅而生烦恼。所以,离家修行是上上之举。

If a spiritual seeker tries to do his practices at home, he is likely to be influenced by situations of
$ a2 G3 ~% D! } ~9 V
% J3 S9 y5 F: s! pcraving, hatred, and delusion. Even if he has every intention of concentrating on his studies,
2 |1 x5 g: l( Q. b8 b5 y" i- l: u( O4 E6 K0 L( s/ l5 j
friends and relatives easily stir up his emotion. Hence, the smartest thing to do is to stay away- y0 Q5 Q* D$ F% P. b% s" {# V
( v9 q' }1 u3 kfrom home to practice.8 u9 \/ t# |' Q' c( n! ~
: a" C1 n* B: d: Q" g% a! u$ R佛经云:“何处生烦恼,须臾不得住。”

The scripture says: “A place that incites afflictive emotions is a place not to stay even for an
+ S' \' E1 Q$ Q1 Z8 [5 ` x5 @% y$ k, }
instant.”

博朵瓦也说:“远离故乡与亲友,如理作意弃散乱,此等之人趋解脱。”

1 A6 G, O: k, b4 Q/ K1 nGeshe Potowa also says: “Leave behind your hometown, relatives, and friends. Give up

0 x' C V4 c7 e) f o7 Vdistractions and steer your mind according to the teachings. By doing so, you will attain& ^" C. N, M3 O) u

9 u: A+ T' V( b& W/ `; ^臧巴加惹的修行语录中也有这样一段话:“烦恼因外境而生,不舍弃故乡真是愚痴;修行

需对治烦恼,不依对治者真是愚痴;听闻佛经依因缘而得,不筹备因缘真是愚痴。若远离

1 H5 v8 n; ? O. ~6 d故土,即使谣言四起,也不后悔;心依止上师,即使饥饿而死,也不后悔;若通达心性,( d% F8 b3 [2 j$ R. _5 k

即使短暂依师,也不后悔。若远离家乡,即有了对治烦恼的好缘起;不贪图乐果,即已产. p" b# \# [) ~* }
, V/ w8 R& J5 P; j( ?) v6 P生正信的好缘起;舍弃世间法,是发布施的好缘起。不舍弃故乡,贪嗔是不会间断的。因

此,首先离家极重要。世间琐事不能舍弃,就无时修持;世间财物不能放下,就不能斩断

* N. b+ j% N; }5 Q亲友的牵连。”+ e8 E: c) A4 c) X+ w4 m4 b

The following quote is found in Tsangpa Gyare’s teachings on practice: “External circumstances3 g+ e* U& y8 |9 Z3 k& K
) ]3 Q) |2 p0 E
trigger afflictive emotions, clinging to one’s homeland is indeed foolish. Spiritual practice is

0 a- G4 ^% o# `5 W' ^! R2 w: }0 Smeant to subdue disturbing emotions, knowing not to apply antidotes is indeed foolish. The

9 ^. A1 Y' p: A0 Dopportunity to hear the Dharma results from causes and conditions; not knowing to create. h5 L- G# c0 P3 L5 }
0 \9 t; H9 f$ _9 N; _$ ?" j
favorable causes and conditions is indeed foolish. Having left the homeland far behind for( o% R, Q! k( G, b
8 t5 h& s- @, V! U: R1 G4 j+ m$ ?$ i
practice, you have no regret whatsoever even if rumors abound. Having resolved to follow a
2 |2 ]. }" t& [' J: J0 L7 H6 _2 g ^5 {7 d: h; B
spiritual teacher, you have no regret even if you die from starvation. Having realized the nature
( L; x+ A" P' ~3 n3 ]/ E) C
. n5 b% w, k! {: c$ b. k) C$ fof the mind, you have no regret even if your time with the teacher was brief. To leave the
$ h5 l! I3 ~' b
0 T9 c4 m% v; zhomeland is a favorable condition for overcoming afflictions. To give up the craving for pleasure! H* `4 L/ |1 I5 W
" o1 V+ c+ Z) F5 n# ~# ]. F) t
is a favorable condition for establishing right views. To banish worldly affairs is a favorable( `) s: A& d8 o% k& Y
/ S# |, B7 I+ Y2 z5 f/ Z" c4 J
condition for making offerings. So long as you are attached to your homeland, you cannot rid
8 M J$ m# t' e% Y7 L9 n2 ]; H! d m! i. \9 J& b
yourself of greed and avarice. Henceforth, the first crucial step is to bid farewell to your home. If
" k9 c5 o7 k# Q3 {) C) E( |9 s& t5 F2 L4 r4 t
you cannot give up worldly engagements, you will never have the time to practice. If you cannot
4 I, O( G, }5 `/ I# @) S5 _8 r, ~4 f$ Y$ W& R
relinquish your worldly possessions, you will never sever entanglements with friends and
0 G+ U% R4 Z( q9 P! h" S- ?2 A/ R8 }

0 S! q" r8 G3 O$ H% v看来,故土家园的过患确实无穷。大智者应难舍能舍,难行能行。

+ W/ s- V( x/ D; ^In all, it seems the ills of staying in one’s homeland are indeed endless. A truly wise person
4 C& L! p% S c- s6 R a; w5 P6 J2 y2 j; m$ |/ N' M
should let go of what is difficult to give up and carry out what is difficult to do.

3 u: n& Q% E1 a T% I0 ?远离家乡和财务的纠缠,依止静处时,才能深切感受到诸大德教言的胜妙之处。) T \; i; o3 P$ I% v1 Y

Only when we have settled in a secluded place, free from tangles of money and homeland, shall
