厌世 | Becoming Disenchanted
真正的修行人应一心向佛,厌弃世法。否则,要想成功简直是白日做梦。
9 @; q5 W$ w0 d8 V! uGenuine spiritual seekers should turn their mind wholeheartedly to the Dharma and renounce, y2 g( z0 d7 ^/ V4 p' q
secular affairs. Otherwise, wishing to be successful in spiritual practice is just daydreaming.2 X9 J: N( _3 k; n3 T9 T5 Z- I6 e( o
无著菩萨长期在寂地闭关,很多人想拜见或向他求教,总是吃闭门羹。他在关房门外写着( h# i0 F8 r9 v( b, u- \1 x
:“胜法以及今生计,二者无法同时成,若能共成则必定,自我欺骗无怀疑。与我会晤无
+ K* p+ f/ `) {. s他言,期望各自勤修善。”3 W2 o. g! \* M1 T/ ~
Bodhisattva Thogme Zangpo maintained his long-term retreat in an isolated hermitage; many
5 M- W$ h. f, m! [7 d& f7 uvisitors seeking his audience or teachings found themselves on the wrong side of the door. He+ N1 ]3 N  [* ]+ P3 a
posted a note outside his retreat hut that read: “Between the sublime path and the secular
  i8 _% a- |& l0 u" c5 v) xworld, there is no way to accommodate both; should one claim it is doable, it is for certain a self-
: [2 r1 F; z) Ldeception. Even if we meet face to face, there are no other words I could impart to you. May we& @: n' I) P2 J+ U+ H- |& K) l
all strive diligently to practice the Dharma!”
1 j+ s; W( j, N$ b; t3 E5 l8 E萨迦班智达也说:“一个人一边成办即生兴盛事业,一边求永久安乐,是愚痴卤莽的行为4 B; [) x: u" x9 j- K" f
。我们应当舍弃世间法。” 《发起菩萨殊胜志乐经》中也云:“弥勒,我不说言,爱言说
9 S6 r' V! {- {. s& x( {0 e4 F4 ^者为心一住,好营世务于法无损。”
7 R1 W4 j& p% G- h0 G# BSakya Pandita says: “If one strives for success and prosperity of this life and at the same time
9 \9 m2 h/ {$ i' V* f( K1 H2 i0 Owishes to attain the ultimate happiness, one is foolish and reckless. We should abandon secular* J; R/ U* i  u9 ^* ?" Q
affairs.” In The Sutra of Arousing the Supreme Motivation of the Bodhisattvas it says: “Maitreya, I9 M1 H; N: Z1 i, d1 X) ^" E9 y
will never agree that vociferous people can effectively focus their minds, nor do I approve of the$ F& h$ u0 ]6 O) n0 P0 I" V1 s
saying that no harm is done to the Doctrines by getting involved in secular matters.”0 l+ t- h6 C# L3 l+ c; m
《修行入门》中也描述过宗喀巴大师亲见文殊菩萨,文殊菩萨赠送的一段至理名言:“如; O3 G7 p! U: @, l0 Y
果开初没有对轮回产生出离的厌恶心,纵然孜孜不倦地闻思修行,也完全不会超越轮回及
& q, ^. }* a5 F' ]恶趣的因。应当将生圆次第等高深的法暂时束之高阁,精勤修持出离心,直至生起出离心; {" o& B8 T* F1 Z! ]7 T, Y+ v
为止。”
4 [2 A$ }9 O7 [& Z7 X( |! h1 \: vThe Gateway to Practice describes how Master Tsongkhapa once had a vision of Bodhisattva4 @7 e! T6 I( A% Y& \
Manjusri, who imparted to him a golden instruction: “Unless one has developed an utter disgust
. H, B  C" y! o9 k$ C, t1 G* K( z' Jtoward samsara in the first place, all his efforts in studying, reflection, and meditation will not
. ]6 G6 U7 Y: ~; \; Jfree him from samsara and the lower realms. Therefore, one should put away the profound9 \5 n& s2 @: }; j; U6 o
practices, such as those on generation and completion phases, on high shelves for the moment.9 c% j- K: |# q5 ^: q: x+ l
Instead, work intensely on cultivating disenchantment until it has arisen fully in the mind.”
4 O8 L' r& L+ W+ U4 J% `6 x有的人会想,不是说:“佛法在世间,不离世间觉,离世觅菩提,恰如求兔角”吗?/ t  _( x9 Y8 A1 z- l  X+ Q
Some may wonder: Isn’t there a famous saying like the following:
) `4 G5 Y5 l$ \3 [$ I2 U# n1 zThe Kingdom of Buddha is in this world, within which enlightenment is to be sought.2 J+ o; m9 J- \+ {
To seek enlightenment beyond this world is as absurd as to search for a rabbit’s horn.+ K* a) K2 r( L( C: \$ o5 d( M
佛法和世间法应该是不矛盾的啊?0 E6 _  X3 k; {+ G% x  D
Buddhists’ practice shouldn’t be in conflict with worldly activities, should it?
! B: z4 l6 g5 u" \其实,这种说法有两层密意,一是为了调柔刚入佛门的世间众生,迎合他们不愿抛弃世间
) g$ B; X- _0 A之念的一种权巧说法;二是针对已证悟的成就者的无二境界或利众事业而言。+ g1 Y- N* F& ]# y* S& g4 m
In fact, this saying has two levels of meaning. On one level, it is an expedient way to guide those, Z8 w2 N- d# z% {/ b
new to Buddhism, to suit their unwillingness to let go of this world. On the other level, it speaks
+ ?# A/ [; i: z+ [) U  U# S+ T9 ~directly of the non-dual minds or the activities of realized sages.$ L2 u9 ?) q% V6 U
作为凡夫,只能脚踏实地地舍弃愦闹,如经所说:“当舍于懈怠,远离诸愦闹,寂静常知
& j# |1 R. I& C: q9 @: V足,是人当解脱。”
# g4 u' ]- i, `2 B1 a7 ^5 {; @As ordinary beings, we should keep our feet firmly on the ground and stay away from
8 r& R+ {) p5 E0 j: Z) y0 s8 hdistractions. The scripture says: “Whoever overcomes indolence, keeps away from distractions! v: E( m  T# v! S
and always feels contented in solitude will attain liberation.”/ N/ c4 G, v: Y* e; T8 B
浮名浮利过于酒,醉得人心死不醒。不要中了酒神狄俄尼索斯的诡计,迷醉于世间名利,1 g4 j3 r' V5 l' j
好好把握住自己吧!
( A' U7 i/ D; M" {0 OIllusory fame and flimsy prosperity are as seductive as wine but even more potent. They make7 Z0 ?8 u4 N. R
the mind dead drunk, becoming incapable of awakening. Do not be tricked by the wine god
4 T9 b: C  N1 r% c* A6 ]Dionysus and intoxicated with worldly renown and wealth. Hold onto your own principles!# L2 ~1 r6 ~+ g: e: Y
