闽南佛学院后面有一座小山,其高度虽不能与雪域的名山相提并论,但于此地也可算是登

5 O# w" v$ e1 o; E, Y1 f4 r# e+ `- |6 L高望远之绝佳胜地,当地人称之为五老山。登上山巅,整个厦门市区一览无余。令人顿生+ m! G# x% Z k: z: h5 p* z9 j: z) j

“登五老而小闽”之感。

e. Z( s, K( K, kas the chirping of insects. It’s an excellent place to do spiritual practice.

半山腰有一“那兰若处”,为当地人时常拜望之胜地。我与济群法师的交谈处就选择于此+ P# M+ f% l6 t9 e
# E( i' e7 w8 {/ a3 a+ M。济群法师培养了大批僧才,其培养的僧尼与知识分子已遍布各地。为广弘佛法所作之努. W0 x9 q1 ]$ ]5 V8 {2 u

' P. P. c* u8 e, A+ b; O8 Q, vwho are now carrying out Dharma activities in many places. It’s a great pleasure to have a chance3 P' ]" P3 y" a2 y$ A& b

to talk with him.! L1 e1 x" e: F ~/ \" L" F& C
* z: u) M9 V/ b# w一边品着闽南人最喜欢的“功夫茶”,一边交流心得。我谈到了藏地依止上师的方式、传9 ]. G3 X) f3 _. J1 f
' j; z2 [, Y- _ m% V' R
统以及前辈大德依止上师的感人事迹。感人之处,不免令其赞叹不已。我又谈到了闻思修
, ?, j- p& m, ~5 F. f* ^$ l0 ?# U# @6 h8 e- v
行不可偏废的重要意义。他感慨道,在五浊兴盛之今世,通过闻思修行建立正知正见,消# T+ ] x1 o" c, [$ z
6 r9 W3 T. \2 }$ u" C
除烦恼非常重要。他的观点令我有“伯牙子期”之感。的确,佛法的真正目的是为了消除
' v8 _; P( f$ s' Z3 O Z
/ K5 `5 P6 h1 G+ Q烦恼,若不能将佛法运用于实际生活,融入自己的相续,其他一切形象上的建道场、造佛
% {( O' H+ ]) [/ o% k% ?) X: N/ J
6 P! e6 r+ d% [4 K2 a像都是空谈。只可惜人们往往不明其理,真是令人叹息。9 f) c( Q& R$ e8 r w" j9 Q, X$ [
6 P" g8 F* w" W2 {8 d/ s1 h ?Sipping Kung Fu tea, the chosen beverage of Min people, we exchanged our thoughts and

" V1 \2 K) I3 f4 }( N! J+ P* dexperiences. I mentioned the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, its way of following spiritual- D8 e5 I* W; |% f( T& g; ]0 o
0 o, o1 _- b9 f+ c, s+ tteachers, and the many heart-rending stories of past great masters in this regard. We paused to% }' q! w( U* ] P* b2 q9 @
! u/ G8 A4 ]7 ~' c( ]admire some of the most inspiring ones. I also stated the central role of listening to, pondering,

3 c6 d% g3 U N/ v! nand meditation on the teachings; none of them can be spared. He agreed with a sigh that, indeed# D/ T4 G' _% e' c, t
3 b% m b2 ?5 gin this time of five degenerations, it’s crucial for people to work on these three wisdom tools in U! v e. E0 q
) A: h* b( x1 ~6 k* |8 _5 [) L6 rorder to establish the right view and uproot afflictive emotions. His words lent me the feeling

$ e# i4 E5 y4 D( i; Aakin to Boya meeting his soul mate Ziqi. Certainly, the real purpose of Buddhism is to empower& `; |' Y7 T t7 t: L$ L
7 i4 a; u! y+ T8 a* Ypeople to overcome confused emotions. Unless Buddha’s teachings are infused into one’s own
3 I' V2 ]# s- F& \9 @3 c9 G. g1 W% h& x0 ]
minds and applied to daily activities, all other feats such as building temples and erecting statues+ D; _) O! d. ~( J
& U8 }! ~# @0 E/ J: o4 n
are but superficial and meaningless. Regrettably, very few people grasp this truth. It‘s a shame!$ v2 h3 ?* s# U' Q( j" T4 } C0 [
M' \& |: B* J! ^4 Q不知不觉,日已偏西。我不得不起身告辞,但愿此生我们还能有缘再次促膝长谈。只怕世: x, }4 G$ A' C7 a& i3 M7 a
