* k0 o/ q* f: {/ H+ U1 g6 Q作为一个修行人,如果在家修持,极易为贪嗔痴的外境所转。即使自己想安住,也会因亲1 T# d% ]$ O; L
8 z! q0 Z2 i H1 U5 b朋的打搅而生烦恼。所以,离家修行是上上之举。3 m4 N2 j8 x4 ?5 Q% q' E" G
8 Q7 K" j$ u. [* }+ A+ sIf a spiritual seeker tries to do his practices at home, he is likely to be influenced by situations of$ T6 T) C; V- R+ u
- r3 i5 m D8 L
craving, hatred, and delusion. Even if he has every intention of concentrating on his studies,. v$ @% _9 W! n. f
1 B/ i! o5 u- {! H2 V
friends and relatives easily stir up his emotion. Hence, the smartest thing to do is to stay away
( y; `1 ?4 X6 ]. y5 y. F7 [0 c( k- H0 [ [7 D' r
from home to practice.
, v' C7 C% d1 z) C* d: c' P6 E8 U9 U" a' a, @0 g+ ]# p7 j k% p5 t
佛经云:“何处生烦恼,须臾不得住。”

The scripture says: “A place that incites afflictive emotions is a place not to stay even for an
' }, O6 [9 c* D1 H) a7 |0 O; ]6 F
% h: g+ g& q/ a' g* t7 t& t1 ~instant.”

博朵瓦也说:“远离故乡与亲友,如理作意弃散乱,此等之人趋解脱。”

Geshe Potowa also says: “Leave behind your hometown, relatives, and friends. Give up% ?; X8 _6 N1 e
4 k, Z! N |' E6 E7 E5 P
distractions and steer your mind according to the teachings. By doing so, you will attain+ @4 G F, ]4 Q4 D2 l: v. ?

liberation.”

需对治烦恼,不依对治者真是愚痴;听闻佛经依因缘而得,不筹备因缘真是愚痴。若远离

: w) _ L" @$ w# O2 M故土,即使谣言四起,也不后悔;心依止上师,即使饥饿而死,也不后悔;若通达心性,4 i: B* v& ~5 I \4 n
. ]1 V, E$ Q! A& a! T即使短暂依师,也不后悔。若远离家乡,即有了对治烦恼的好缘起;不贪图乐果,即已产

生正信的好缘起;舍弃世间法,是发布施的好缘起。不舍弃故乡,贪嗔是不会间断的。因9 e/ [1 x. O. O/ o+ I

此,首先离家极重要。世间琐事不能舍弃,就无时修持;世间财物不能放下,就不能斩断) q, W& \- u, D1 a2 O* Y
/ B- ~" D2 n& J3 r' H亲友的牵连。”+ Z8 C- s8 z4 j. n
) [4 Q# K& G8 s: o- o( v! lThe following quote is found in Tsangpa Gyare’s teachings on practice: “External circumstances

trigger afflictive emotions, clinging to one’s homeland is indeed foolish. Spiritual practice is
+ e% C; S. F8 c x1 B( M* F0 X% U) t* z) x. {8 Z
meant to subdue disturbing emotions, knowing not to apply antidotes is indeed foolish. The
% w) d2 G! O1 H9 j9 d% @* o: w8 Y9 F! Q1 \0 b# d" p. G. E
opportunity to hear the Dharma results from causes and conditions; not knowing to create
/ @( y& Q0 _5 M3 U% s+ |& w& I
1 Z* k9 h4 w2 i D, Sfavorable causes and conditions is indeed foolish. Having left the homeland far behind for
) C4 R7 M& K5 H! j( \1 Y! x: Y# E% w6 j8 r; ~7 e
practice, you have no regret whatsoever even if rumors abound. Having resolved to follow a9 F/ y+ _& z7 D1 T) L/ G0 n- q
, K0 e8 ^: m* d% r, z
spiritual teacher, you have no regret even if you die from starvation. Having realized the nature
+ s3 j2 o* Y8 M5 o- N; `, r$ h6 `% _# D X( q$ V' u
of the mind, you have no regret even if your time with the teacher was brief. To leave the
. j% k7 r+ m% H; A8 v1 ?9 L( L& R( S7 A
homeland is a favorable condition for overcoming afflictions. To give up the craving for pleasure
+ P2 h( Z% A; N- j5 y7 \/ t# @8 k" Z( P* X" L; g: d
is a favorable condition for establishing right views. To banish worldly affairs is a favorable* u! x0 m: u* M) \$ Y, O
6 q ]4 t, l' S( H P2 e5 V: g
condition for making offerings. So long as you are attached to your homeland, you cannot rid5 I9 d" o d& v
, \# V% \& O Zyourself of greed and avarice. Henceforth, the first crucial step is to bid farewell to your home. If

) H- t6 u" e, k1 ]- m! l; Hyou cannot give up worldly engagements, you will never have the time to practice. If you cannot
5 Z3 ~+ L! Z! M @8 B* e a, w' O0 r: q% ?- W, t' l3 o2 r9 g
relinquish your worldly possessions, you will never sever entanglements with friends and3 p- j/ W J% i$ j% K
2 N/ ]5 B8 c' ?+ X8 V1 X/ o
relatives.”

看来,故土家园的过患确实无穷。大智者应难舍能舍,难行能行。8 U6 }* Z' g- F5 {

In all, it seems the ills of staying in one’s homeland are indeed endless. A truly wise person
/ N$ F b) Z5 ~3 w1 X6 u4 r9 n& w: i% v: \3 `
should let go of what is difficult to give up and carry out what is difficult to do.

远离家乡和财务的纠缠,依止静处时,才能深切感受到诸大德教言的胜妙之处。3 J8 U& |# y: N6 k& }
5 g* K/ e( |( @5 d2 q& ?1 O& r
Only when we have settled in a secluded place, free from tangles of money and homeland, shall
$ B& j' L5 G5 u* N( g/ m' K! y9 O+ g# A3 C$ D8 a" ]# @0 G; ?- i3 U
we come to appreciate deeply the sublime meaning of the masters’ teachings.) m3 b/ a) y4 X" h" u
